Deleting your KaiOro account and data

This page explains how to permanently delete your KaiOro account and all associated data. You can do it yourself in the app, or request it in writing if you no longer have the app installed.

First: export anything you want to keep

Deletion is irreversible. If you want to keep your history, export it first:

Settings → Export → choose a format → Export

KaiOro produces the file as CSV, JSON, PDF or XLSX and saves it on your device. That file is yours and is not deleted by the process described below.

Option 1 — Delete in the app (recommended)

1. Open KaiOro.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Open the account section.
4. Select "Delete account and all data".
5. Read the warning and confirm by typing the word requested.
6. If you were signed in, sign in again with Google or Apple when the app asks you to.

Deletion is carried out immediately. There is no request and no waiting period.

Option 2 — Request in writing

If you have already uninstalled the app or can no longer access it, write to:

State in your message the email address of the Google account or Apple Account you used to sign in to KaiOro. It is the only detail that allows your data to be located, as we store no other identifying information. If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your email, give the relay address Apple created for KaiOro; you can find it in your Apple Account settings under Sign in with Apple.

We will process the request within 30 days at most and confirm the deletion in writing. In practice the process is usually completed within a few working days.

Delete only the backup (without deleting your account)

You do not need to delete your account to remove your backup from the cloud. In the app:

1. Open KaiOro.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Open the account section and find the backup.
4. Choose “Delete backup” and confirm.

The encrypted backup stored in the cloud is deleted immediately and permanently. Your data on this device does not change, your account stays, and you can create a new backup at any time.

What this does not delete: if synchronisation is switched on, your sync data stays in the cloud. To remove that as well, use the full deletion described above.

If you would rather request it in writing, email privacy@getkaioro.com and say that you only want the backup deleted.

What exactly is deleted

What is not deleted

• Files you exported yourself to your device or elsewhere. They are outside our reach; delete them yourself if you wish.
• Your Google account or Apple Account. KaiOro only uses it to identify you; deleting your KaiOro account does not affect it in any way. If you requested deletion in writing and had signed in with Apple, you can remove KaiOro's access yourself in your Apple Account settings under Sign in with Apple.
• Your subscription, if you have one. Deleting your account does not cancel it. Cancel it in the store where you took it out: on Android in Google Play › Subscriptions; on iPhone in Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
• Error reports already transmitted. These are pseudonymised technical data with no financial content, and they expire automatically after no more than 90 days.

If you use KaiOro without an account

If you never signed in, there is no account to delete and no data of yours on any server. Your data resides exclusively on your device. To erase it, simply uninstall the app — or use the reset function in the settings if you prefer to keep the app installed.
