Kaioro Terms of Use

1. Scope and parties
These terms govern the use of the Kaioro app between you as the user and:

By installing and using Kaioro you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.
Kaioro is aimed at private individuals and self-employed people. It is not a business management product: it offers no statutory bookkeeping, no multi-user operation and no corporate functions.
2. What Kaioro is — and what it is not
Kaioro is a tool for recording and analysing personal finances. You can record income and expenses, organise them into categories, define budgets and goals, import statements in CSV format, and generate reports and exports.
2.1 Kaioro is not a financial institution
Kaioro is not a bank and not a payment service provider. It holds no money, executes no transfers, issues no payment instruments and does not connect to your bank accounts. Everything you see in the app consists of records that you entered yourself or imported from sources you chose.
2.2 Kaioro provides no advice
Kaioro does not constitute financial, tax, accounting or investment advice, and its operator is not authorised to provide any.
The app produces analyses, forecasts and suggestions — such as how much you can spend without jeopardising your obligations, scenario projections, budget warnings or monthly summaries. All of these are computed by deterministic rules from the data you entered, on your own device, and without any use of artificial intelligence.
They are orientation aids, not professional recommendations. Their value depends entirely on how accurately and completely you record your data. Consult a qualified professional before making significant financial decisions.
2.3 Currency conversions are indicative
Kaioro obtains exchange rates from external providers and displays them for reference. They are not rates applicable to actual transactions. The amount actually charged on a foreign currency transaction is determined by your financial institution, not by this app.
3. Requirements for use
- Minimum age: 16 years.
- Paid features require you to be 18 years old or to have the express consent of a parent or guardian. If you are under 18, do not take out a subscription without that consent.
- A compatible device and, for some features, an internet connection.
4. User account
The app is fully usable without an account. You can record and analyse your finances without registering anywhere.
If you choose to sign in, you will do so with your Google account. Kaioro creates no passwords of its own. The account unlocks cloud backup and synchronisation between devices.
You are responsible for maintaining control of your Google account and of the device on which you use Kaioro. We recommend enabling the app lock available in the settings.
5. Free and paid features
5.1 Current status
At present all Kaioro features are available at no cost. The provisions on prices and subscriptions in sections 5.3 to 5.7 will only take effect once the paid features are actually activated, and we will tell you in the app before that happens.
5.2 Planned tiers
Kaioro provides for three tiers: Free, Plus and Pro.
The Free tier is a complete finance manager with no time limit. It includes quantity limits — three accounts, three budgets, three goals, three recurring rules, five instalments, and a one-time allowance of ten captures by voice or camera.
These limits apply only when creating new items. If you previously held more items, they remain fully usable and are never locked or deleted.
5.3 Billing
Once activated, subscriptions will be taken out and billed exclusively through Google Play. Kaioro processes no payments itself and neither receives nor stores card data. The Google Play terms apply in addition.
5.4 Renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically for the period booked unless cancelled beforehand. Cancellation takes place in your Google Play account, at any time, effective at the end of the current period. Access continues until then.
5.5 No trial period
Kaioro offers no time-limited free trials. The Free tier and the initial allowance of ten captures serve that purpose permanently and without expiry.
5.6 Offline grace period
If you hold an active subscription and your device remains offline, paid features continue to be available for 30 days from the last valid check.
5.7 Changing tier
If your subscription ends, the app returns to the Free tier. Your data is neither deleted nor made inaccessible; only the features exclusive to the higher tier become unavailable, and the quantity limits apply again to items you create from then on.
6. Founder offer
In recognition of its first users, Kaioro offers 12 months of the Plus tier at no cost under the following conditions:

Transparency about the place limit: at the moment of signing in it is not possible to know which position you occupy. Confirmation of whether the benefit applies to you will be given when the paid features are activated and communicated in the app. The order is determined by the time of account creation — objectively and verifiably.
The benefit is personal and non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be combined with other promotions.
7. Your obligations
You undertake not to use Kaioro for unlawful purposes, not to circumvent the technical limits of the service tiers, not to decompile or manipulate the app in order to obtain paid features without subscribing, and not to take any action that impairs the third-party infrastructure the app relies on.
8. Backups and responsibility for your data
Kaioro is a local-first app: your data resides on your device. This has a consequence that we must state plainly.
You are responsible for keeping backups of your data. If you lose the device, reset it to factory settings, or uninstall the app without having created a backup, the data is permanently lost and the operator has no means whatsoever of recovering it.
The cloud backup is encrypted with a passphrase known only to you. If you lose it, the backup is unrecoverable. There is no recovery procedure. This is not a limitation of the service but the necessary consequence of end-to-end encryption — the very thing that prevents anyone else, including the operator, from reading your data.
9. Limitation of liability
Kaioro is provided with due technical care. The operator is however not liable:
- for loss of data resulting from the absence of backups, the loss of the passphrase, the loss or failure of the device, or uninstallation of the app;
- for errors during the import of CSV files, including incorrect column mapping, misinterpreted date formats or duplicates;
- for errors of text or speech recognition, which are inherently approximate technologies whose output you must review before confirming;
- for data entered incorrectly or incompletely by the user, or for conclusions drawn from it;
- for the inaccuracy or unavailability of exchange rates obtained from external providers;
- for financial decisions you make on the basis of the app's analyses;
- for outages of third-party services (Google Play, Firebase) beyond its control.
This limitation does not affect liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, or any other liability that applicable law renders non-excludable.
10. Availability and further development
Kaioro is under continuous development. The operator may change, extend or discontinue features, particularly where technical, security or legal reasons require it. If a change materially impairs features you already use, you will be informed in the app with reasonable notice.
Uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed. Features that require no connection remain usable offline.
11. Intellectual property
The app, its code, its design, its name and its brand belong to the operator. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right of use.
Your data is yours. The operator acquires no rights in the content you record, and you can export it at any time in open formats.
Kaioro incorporates open-source software components; the licence list is available inside the app.
12. Term and termination
You may stop using Kaioro at any time by uninstalling the app and, if you have an account, deleting it in the settings.
The operator may terminate the relationship with reasonable notice, or immediately if you seriously breach these terms. In that case you retain the ability to export your data.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
The law of the Republic of Paraguay applies, and Asunción, Paraguay is agreed as the place of jurisdiction.
Consumer reservation: this choice of law and jurisdiction does not deprive a consumer of the protection afforded by the mandatory provisions of the state of their habitual residence. Consumers resident in the European Union retain the rights under Art. 6 of the Rome I Regulation and may bring proceedings before the courts of their domicile; consumers in Brazil retain the protection of the Consumer Defence Code.
The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. The operator is neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
14. Changes to these terms
The operator may amend these terms where there is an objective reason, in particular legal or technical changes or changes to the service model. Amendments will be announced in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not accept them, you may stop using the app and delete your account before that date.
15. Final provisions
Should any provision of these terms be invalid, the remainder shall remain in force. The invalid provision shall be replaced by the applicable statutory rule.
